A company featured in a Target ad meant to empower girls in the black community has been subjected to a surge of reviews labeling it as racist.

On Monday, a wave of online criticism was leveled at The Honey Pot Company, a line of feminine hygiene products founded by Beatrice Dixon that Target spotlighted in a commercial, NBC News reported.

In the ad, “Founders We Believe In: The Honey Pot: 30,” Dixon, a black entrepreneur, remarked that Target investing in her “really changed my life.”

“The reason why it’s so important for Honey Pot to do well is so the next black girl that comes up with a great idea, she can have a better opportunity, that means a lot to me,” she said.

“Boycott The Honey Pot Company, and Target,” read one of the reviews on Trustpilot, a site for consumer reviews. “RACIST. White people hating comments not going to be tolerated.”

“She make the statement for the next black girl why should the color of her skin matter,” wrote another reviewer, dismissing the remarks as “totally racist and inappropriate.”

Also among the inflammatory and ridiculous one-star reviews was one user’s claim that the products are “probably made from aborted babies shipped in from planned parenthood and torn up photos from boyfriends long gone.”

The waft of unfounded criticism spurred Trustpilot to temporarily suspend Honey Pot reviews while the site’s “Content Integrity team investigates an unusual influx of reviews, some of which violate Trustpilot’s guidelines.

“The page will be reinstated after investigation of the reviews,” the notice continued. “Due to the high influx of reviews we cannot guarantee that reviews provide a genuine representation of the company.”

In the wake of the activity, some took to Twitter urging the public to leave the company positive reviews and reinstate its admirable reputation.

“Support black woman-owned businesses and f— racism,” wrote another.

“Y’all crusty, musty, and dusty for having such hatred in your hearts. White people like myself need to do better.”

One user, who said they’ve used the products for years, applauded Target for investing in “a double minority business” which “adds to an economy of people that aren’t found on NASDAQ.

“It’s unfortunate that Target’s efforts towards economic inclusivity is being labeled otherwise,” the reviewer continued. “Congrats to Honey Pot Co. and thank you to Target for paving the way.”

“It bring me great joy to see MY people represented. Thank you sis for doing a wonderful job in this while also making amazing products,” wrote another.
