Vanessa Williams still has “work to do.”

The former Miss America-turned recording, television, film and Broadway star will add talk show host to her wide-ranging resume.

A food-focused, female-centric spinoff of Dr. Oz’s popular syndicated show is getting underway, gearing up for a 2020 launch.
Deadline reports that Sony Pictures Television is moving forward with big plans for “The Good Dish” as new syndicated daytime series from The Dr. Oz Show producers.

Hosted by the famous physician’s daughter Daphne Oz (who was an original cast member of ABC’s “The Chew”), “Top Chef” judge Gail Simmons, personal chef and entrepreneur Jamika Pessoa and Williams, the series grew out of weekly cooking segments featured on “The Dr. Oz Show.”

“We have experienced overwhelming feedback from our audiences on “The Dish on Oz” cooking segments, which have been recently featured on The Dr. Oz Show,” Sony Pictures Television chief John Weiser said.

“When Daphne Oz and this all-star ensemble were available, we recognized the opportunity for viewers, advertisers, and local broadcast stations,” he added. “We have on-air tested this format and talent for two years perfecting this show we are now bringing to market. Spinoffs have the highest success rate of converting into multi-year franchises. In fact, spinoffs gave us the great Dr. Oz straight from Oprah!”

The latest daytime entry will feature simple shortcuts, everyday recipes, trends, money-saving tips and food preparation.
“American Idol’ winner Jordin Sparks was initially a part of the lineup for the segment, formerly known as “The Dish.”

Williams, whose been nominated for Emmy, Grammy, Tony and NAACP Image awards, has been honing her talk show craft as a guest host of CBS’ “The Talk.” over the last year.

In 2017, the “Save The Best For Last” singer portrayed a daytime talk show queen on the short-lived VH1 scripted drama “Daytime Divas.”
