While she feared she might have postpartum depression, she gradually began to feel better earlier this fall. She said having a new baby in the home gives her hope, and Smith has been able to make more time for herself and get back on her routine.

“This journey has been exciting, emotional and not at all expected,” Smith said. “But as long as we are happy and healthy, I’ll be in a good head space.”
