Jasmine Roberts, who grew up in Highland, is one of 600 young entrepreneurs honored in Forbes' 30 Under 30 lists for 2020.

On its website, Forbes called the honorees "revolutionaries" in their industries.

The 27-year-old adjunct professor at New York University was recognized for her work in the "Games" industry, one of 20 categories with 30 honorees each.

After graduating in 2009 from Redlands East Valley High School, she received an engineering degree from Columbia University, then earned a master's from Harvard University.

Formerly a software engineer with Unity Technologies XR, she is freelancing at Google Creative Lab, according to Forbes. She has taught workshops with Girls in Tech and Girls Make Games, and is creating gaming curricula for Black Girls Code. She was also one of the first to prototype games on Google's cloud gaming service called Stadia.

Her younger brother, Jonathan, had been getting all the accolades, her father, Samuel Roberts, said by phone. He graduated as the only Redlands Unified School District student who went to Harvard in 2013. At that time, the university had a 5.79% acceptance rate.
