The Fairfield Polo Club

Leaders: Mike and Kim Carney

Pitch: The Carneys are trying to promote public interest in ongoing polo matches at the club, three miles north of the Kansas Star Casino on South Broadway. Ultimately, they want to create more ways to generate revenue to maintain the 143-acre grounds, including weddings, picnics and fundraising events.

Status: The club hosts polo matches Saturdays and Sundays from May to September, but it is taking August off to avoid the heat. Matches, which are open and free to the public, resume Sept. 3.

Need: More individuals and families to watch the matches, and more people to book events.
