WWR Article Summary (tl;dr) Steve Case’s “Rise of the Rest” bus tour is on hold due to the Coronavirus. The bus tour criss crosses the country to find start-ups to support outside of major cities.
Wichita
In January, it was reported that former America Online chairman and CEO and one-time Wichitan Steve Case would bring his Rise of the Rest Road Trip to Wichita next month to give away at least $100,000 to one or more entrepreneurs.
Now, though, the trip is postponed due to coronavirus concerns.
“The tour involves thousands of participants and dozens of venues across five cities in four states,” Case said in an online statement.
He wrote “that part of what makes the tour so powerful is the opportunity to bring people from your community together–with individuals in the startup world from other cities–and celebrate what makes your city special.
We want to make sure that when the bus rolls through, it has the desired catalytic impact we’ve promised.”
Case wants to find start-ups to support outside of typical places that receive venture capital funding.
Look for more information on rescheduling as soon as it becomes available.
