Sprite is kicking off the holiday season with special twists to a popular seasonal flavor.
On Monday, the soft drink manufacturer rolled out its Winter Spiced Cranberry flavor and the new zero-sugar version nationwide.
In addition, Sprite has teamed up with UNWRP, a New York-based, Black-owned custom gift wrap business, for a special gift wrap design inspired by the bold flavors of the beverages.
Next month, The Coca-Cola Company brand’s “Sprite Holiday Special” TV spot will “infuse Black joy and modern cultural nuance into the traditional holiday variety show concept.”
“Everyone shows love and joy during the holidays, but no one as uniquely as young Black people whose humor and vernacular spread cheer with a little extra spice and uplift — just like Sprite Winter Spiced Cranberry,” Sprite’s creative strategy director A.P. Chaney said with Monday’s announcement. “Our creative leans into expressions of Black joy, which are always ‘extra’ but never too much, and celebrates the spirit of connection we all crave more than ever.”
The company said since the 2019 launch of the “Thirst for Yours” brand platform, it has been “committed to helping emerging artists and entrepreneurs realize their dreams.”
The collaboration with UNWRP, which was “birthed in Brooklyn” and founded by Ashley London Fouyolle, ties into Sprite’s “tradition of putting on young creators, supporting Black-owned businesses and giving back to its audience.”
The custom Sprite x UNWRP gift-wrapping paper will be available via giveaways to fans who share their love for Sprite Winter Spiced Cranberry with the @Sprite brand on social and/or sign up for Sprite Winter Spiced Cranberry notifications on Sprite.com.”
With 120 calories and 32 grams of sugar in each 12-ounce serving, the full fat version of the beverage is available in 20-ounce and 2-liter bottles.
The Zero Sugar alternative is available in a 2-liter bottle with no calories or sugar (and sweetened with aspartame).
