Working moms, saddle up baby. Mommy Works opened Friday in Orange.

The concept is a working space for moms that features a supervised play room for kids ages 6 months to 6 years.

Amanda Rowoldt, founder and owner of Mommy Works, was a work-at-home mom who found it “really distracting and isolating.” She also wanted her kids to socialize with other kids.

“I was also interested in creating a community for moms,” Rowoldt said. “I’m interested in collaborative work environments and professional networking and believe a lot in the power of cooperation, engagement and partnership. As modern moms trying to balance it all, I believe there is so much we can learn from one another.

The company has a business license with the city of Orange, but because the moms stay in the office, it is not licensed as a daycare.

Day rates start at $15 an hour for one child and go up as the child count does. Monthly membership plans start at $500.

Mommy Works offers desk space, Wi-Fi, coffee, conference rooms, diaper changing stations and a kid-friendly kitchen.

The space can be utilized by moms working on projects, continuing their education, or who work from home. The space can accommodate up to 21 women at the same time.

Mommy Works is at 2140 W. Chapman Ave., Suite 240. More information can be found at mommyworks.mom, 714-483-1424 or email hello@mommyworks.mom. — Hannah Madans
