WWR Article Summary (tl;dr) Entrepreneur Soapy Jones says her company  “Left Hand Soap Co.” began as a passion project after she gave out her unique handmade soaps as gifts to friends and family during the holidays.

Birmingham

Left Hand Soap Co. is coming to Birmingham’s Pepper Place this summer.

The skincare brand, which makes all-natural soaps, scrubs, home cleaning products and other offerings, is relocating from Tuscaloosa.

The Pepper Place location will serve as the company’s home base for retail and manufacturing operations. The new Birmingham retail location will also provide a glimpse into its open-air manufacturing space, allowing shoppers to see first-hand how its soap bars, lip balms, hair care oils and cleansers are made.

Owner Soapy Jones said she felt relocating to Birmingham would allow brand awareness to continue growing throughout the state. The skincare company will continue to serve the Tuscaloosa area through pickup and retail locations. The Pepper Place store will be located in the Sensabaugh building by The Collective, OvenBird and Billy Reid. In addition to retail, Jones is also planning soap-making workshops and events at her storefront.

“Starting in childhood when my grandmother taught me how to make it, soap has always been a part of my life,” Jones said. “Left Hand Soap Co. was at first born as a passion project after I gave soap as Christmas gifts in my early twenties. People began requesting my soap as gifts and Left Hand Soap was born. Over the past 22 years it has evolved into a trusted brand with purposeful, high-quality and all-natural ingredients. If you’ve got skin, we’ve got soap for it.

Sloss Real Estate Chief Operating Officer Tom Walker said Women’s History Month was the perfect time to announce another female entrepreneur coming to Pepper Place.

“Pepper Place seeks out authentic, creative operators, and we believe Left Hand Soap is exactly that,” Walker said. “We’re incredibly excited Soapy Jones has chosen the Pepper Place District as her flagship location. In addition to being able to find all of her products ready for purchase, we are looking forward to all the creative community activation at Left Hand Soap Co. through classes, workshops and live soap-making.”
