WWR Article Summary (tl;dr) Fashion influencer Eva Chen debuts her children’s book “Juno Valentine and The Magical Shoes.” Described as “equal parts fashion fairytale and girl power handbook”, it is sure to be a favorite nighttime read for kids everywhere.
If you love the latest details about what is on trend in the fashion industry, chances are you are a loyal follower of fashion influencer Eva Chen.
Chen—known to her 970,000+ loyal followers on Instagram as @evachen212—is a self- described “fashion nerd” who has worked for Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, Teen Vogue, Vogue, and the Wall Street Journal. She is currently the head of fashion partnerships at Instagram.
While Chen started out pre-med at Johns Hopkins University, her love of fashion and beauty ultimately led to a career in the fashion industry where she was appointed the youngest ever “editor in chief” of Lucky magazine by Anna Wintour.
The New York Times has called her “an authority on great books to read” and Adweek calls her a “top young influential.” But it is her toughest critics, her children, who simply refer to her as “silly Mommy.”
And that is where her new project, a children’s picture book called “JUNO VALENTINE AND THE MAGICAL SHOES” has its origins. Chen, who reads her children at least 42 books a week, had plenty of first-hand experience and inspiration to create the book.
Coming out this November, the story follows Juno Valentine on an epic adventure through time and even space to find her lost shoes. Each time she steps into a new pair of shoes (belonging to icons from Frida Kahlo to Misty Copeland), Juno is transported to a colorful new world—and learns a valuable lesson about herself.
“Fashion is fun and frivolous, yes, but it also can transport and empower,” said Eva.
